The Avalon Home

Avalon.jpg

(Level CPP) is located at 405 Avalon Dr, Vista, CA 92084.  Four clients reside at this home.  They are all considered to be in the developmentally severe range. This home was specifically developed for consumers with behavioral challenges.

The home rests on a knoll overlooking the surrounding neighborhood.  The exterior of the home is surrounded by lush green ivy and palm trees. The double size lot provides a huge patio, large grass lawn and allows for parking when larger meetings take place at the home. Located in a family oriented neighborhood the atmosphere is quiet and friendly.  All on one floor, Avalon house has been especially modified for the developmentally and physically disabled. Wide hallways, sloped entrances and exits and two handicapped wheelchair “roll in” showers provide ease of movement for the non-ambulatory clients.

This is a real “leave It to Beaver” original.  Built in 1950, Avalon House is still richly retro.  The 50’s styling is charming.  There is over 2,200 square feet of living area, 4 private bedrooms and 2.5 baths.  Because the patio and backyard area are highly suitable for entertaining, the Avalon home has become the “Birthday” venue for Hearts of Gold Care Home’s consumers.  Once per month a birthday party is held for all consumers who were born in that particular birthday month.  Bar-b-que, dance, karaoke and games are played as the venue is suitable for a large crowd.

Avalon Home is only ½ mile from downtown Vista shopping and bus routes, only ½ mile from Brengle Terrace Park and just blocks from the New Vista Community Center and library.  This location makes integration into the community and recreation easy to achieve.
